Rett Syndrome Europe: brand guidelines

Rett Syndrome Europe (RSE) is the master brand. Other RSE brands, such as Rett Forum, extend it.

Use dark blue for text, links, buttons and dark backgrounds.
Yellow and light blue are for highlights, shapes and backgrounds only. Never use them for text on white. Yellow text on dark blue works (5,5:1).
In UI code, use the semantic tokens (--color-brand-primary, --color-text-default, --color-surface-*) rather than the palette, so the code works across brands.

Typography

Segoe UI for everything, at 11 pt and justified in documents (from the original brand notes).
Segoe UI is a Microsoft system font. It is not redistributable, so it is not shipped here. On the web, the token stack falls back to the platform's system UI font.
TODO: confirm whether the RSE wordmark uses a different typeface, and whether a web font should replace Segoe UI for non-Windows readers.

Logo

Keep clear space around the logo of at least the height of one star.
Do not recolour, stretch, rotate, add effects or place it on busy photography.
TODO: export mono-dark and mono-light versions of each layout from Illustrator (brands/rse/source/). Until then, use the colour logo on white or light backgrounds only.

Templates

The templates/ folder (included in rse.zip) contains templates generated from code in build/templates/rse/ (npm run templates -- --brand rse). Don't edit them by hand; change the builder and rebuild.

rse-presentation-template.pptx: PowerPoint, 16:9, with seven layouts and one sample slide each: Title (bold blue and yellow panel with stars), Agenda, Section divider, Content + image, Numbers, Quote and Closing. Add slides with Home › New Slide and type into the placeholders. Slide numbers fill in automatically.
rse-letter-template.dotx: Word letterhead, A4, with the logo and address on page 1 and a slim running header after that.
rse-report-template.dotx: Word report, A4, with a cover page and an inner page showing headings, a table, a caption and a callout. Pages are numbered in the footer.
rse-minutes-template.dotx: Word agenda and meeting record, A4, with meeting details, an agenda table, an action log and a "next review" callout.

Double-click a .dotx to start a new document from it. The Word templates use real styles, so pick them from the Styles gallery rather than formatting text by hand:

Normal (Segoe UI 11 pt, dark blue), Title, Heading 1–3, Caption.
List Bullet (yellow square) and List Number.
Callout Heading and Callout Text for tinted boxes. Compact Text is for dense notes.
RSE Table, a table style with a blue header row, light blue rules and an optional tinted total row. Turn the header and total rows on or off under Table Design › Table Style Options.

The templates use Segoe UI, which ships with Windows and Microsoft Office. It's not embedded, because its licence doesn't allow redistribution. Keep yellow and light blue for shapes and highlights; text stays dark blue, or white or yellow on dark blue.
